Climb Description
Cerro Becerrero is situated close to where the provinces of Sevilla, Málaga and Córdoba all meet. It is officially part of Sevilla, however, and as such is one of the most challenging climbs in the province (there is not too much competition!)The top of the climb is marked by a TV tower, and it is the final stretch from the town of Estepa to the tower where all the difficulty lies. Here the gradient is inconsistent, with several very steep ramps which test the legs. The views are the top are rewarding, offering some nice views in all directions. This ascent through Gilena is the toughest of the three sides, with a short downhill between Gilena and Estepa somewhat softening the average gradient. The scenery is pleasant, with trees offering some shade in places, without being really spectacular.
Cerro Becerrero is open throughout the year.
Roads & Traffic
The road surface is in mixed condition. The worst section is between Gilena and Estepa, where it is cracked and with some small potholes, but it is still absolutely fine to ride on a road bike. The final 3km from the village of Estepa have been resurfaced recently.
There is little traffic throughout the climb.
