Climb Description
Cortegana is one of the most challenging cycling limbs in the province of Huelva - one of the flattest parts of Andalucia. The ascent is characterized by quite inconsistent gradients and pleasant, but unspectacular arable scenery. The main negative point is the poor road surface, which detracts from the enjoyment. However, if you are in the area then there are not too many options, so Cortegana should still be a climb you consider riding - at least once!
Cortegana is open throughout the year.
Roads & Traffic
The road surface is generally in poor condition. It is frequently broken, with potholes and even areas where the road has cracked completely, exposing the earth below. It is passable on a road bike, but is not the most comfortable of rides.
Traffic is very light throughout.
Again, the road is not in great condition and it can also carry some fast moving traffic, so we don't recommend riding it very highly.
From the east Cortegana can also be reached by several roads, but these are rolling more than sustained climbs.
