Climb Description
Puerto del Espino is a largely pleasant climb in the west of the Málaga province of Andalucia. It is very enjoyable for the first 7km, riding through forest, before joining the slightly busier A-369 road after Algatcoin. Here the scenery opens up and becomes more spectacular, but you also have to keep an eye out more for cars. This profile also includes the short ascent at the top of Puerto del Espino to the TV tower. The climb can be incorporated with several others in the area to make an excellent longer route, and is reachable both from the Costa del Sol and the Grazalema Mountains.
Roads & Traffic
The road surface is in very good condition throughout.
Traffic is light for the first 7km until Algatocin. After turning onto the A-369 for the final 2.5km, however, it becomes busier. It is still generally fine for riding, but pay attention to the odd car going too fast around the bends.
