Climb Description
Puerto del Espino is a pleasant climb in the west of the Málaga province of Andalucia which can be reached from several different sides and also incorporated with other ascents in the area to make an excellent longer route. It is comfortably reachable both from the Costa del Sol and the Grazalema Mountains. The ascent from San Pablo is the longest, most gentle and also the busiest of the many routes to the top of this climb. The scenery is mostly open and has some pleasant views overlooking the nearby Sierra Bermeja mountains.
Puerto del Espino is open throughout the year.
Roads & Traffic
The road surface is in excellent condition throughout.
There is a reasonable amount of traffic throughout the route - perhapsmore than you might expect for such a winding mountain road. It is generally not too bothersome, but the narrow road means you have to be mindful of it at all times.
