Climb Description
Peñas Blancas from Estepona is one of the best cycling climbs along the Costa del Sol. It is long and with a respectable average gradient, but without every getting crushingly steep. The scenery, however, is what makes the climb. There are open views for the majority of the descent, with several magnificent miradores (viewpoints), from where you can see both the Mediterranean coastline and the Sierra Bermeja mountains. Also, considering its proximity to the hustle and bustle of the Costa del Sol, this is a relatively quiet and peaceful climb throughout the year.
From the Peñas Blancas pass, it is also possible to climb another 5.5km to the TV tower at Los Reales (7.7% average gradient). This short extension offers even more spectacular panoramic views.
Peñas Blancas is open throughout the year.
