Climb Description
Puerto del Viento is a fairly gentle climb that links El Burgo with the historic town of Ronda. The name (which translates as 'Windy Pass'), may make it sound somewhat daunting, but it is rarely blowing a gale up here either! The climb from El Burgo is the longer and more challenging side, although it poses no real difficulty to experienced cycle tourists and so is generally included as part of a longer route. The first part of the climb is the most challenging, with gradients hovering around 6-7%; this is also the least scenic part with the views mostly obscured by forest.
The scenery becomes more spectacular the higher that you climb, with the upper slopes offering fine views looking across to the Sierra de las Nieves and Sierra Grazalema mountains.
Puerto del Viento is open throughout the year.
