Climb Description
Baños de Benasque is one of the most beautiful climbs in the Spanish Pyrenees. It heads in to the Maladeta Natural Park a beautiful zone close to the border with France. This area is home to the two highest peaks in the Pyrenees - Aneto and Maladeta - and there are fantastic views of the high mountains throughout much of this climb. The climb runs parallel to the Ésera River for much of the route, and the gradients are generally gentle - although there is a short stretch at 14%. This is a climb which is certainly worth doing if you are in the area. The area at the top is also the start of many popular hikes into the high mountains.
Baños de Benasque is open from May to early November. The rest of the year it depends on local weather conditions, but it is often rideable by road bike.
