Climb Description
Collada Llomena from Beleño is a highly enjoyable climb in the heart of the Ponga Natural Park. It has featured recently in the Vuelta a España for the first time, offering a nice alternative to the traditional route over the Puerto de Pontón.The ascent itself is largely in forest, but you do occasionally catch glimpses of peaks from the Ponga mountains as well as from the neighbouring Picos de Europa National Park. One of the main highlights of the Collada Llomena is the ride to the start of the climb, through the steep sided gorges of the Ponga Natural Park.
Collada Llomena is nominally open year-round; however, short-term closures due to snow are possible during the winter.
