Climb Description
Puerto de Ventana has been a fairly regular climb in the Vuelta a España during the last 25 years; although, rather surprisingly, it has never been climbed from this side - by far the most challenging face.Much of the climb is in forest, before it opens up during the final couple of kilometres to reveal superb views across into the neighbouring province of Castilla-y-León. The Ventana is a thoroughly enjoyable climb to ride, with a nice steady gradient allowing you to settle into a good rhythm.
Puerto de Ventana is often cleared of snow in the winter months, so it is usually possible to climb it throughout the year. However, from May to October is best, when the weather is warmer and the snow has all melted away.
