Climb Description

Puerto de Marabio is a pleasant climb which is very quiet and feels very isolated, until every few kilometres you pass through a small village. It is a good ride to include on a circular route, or if you want a nice warm up before tackling one of the real giants in the area.

Puerto Marabio is nominally open throughout the year. Short term closures are possible in winter though due to localized snow.

Roads & Traffic

The road surface is quite bumpy but is fully asphalted with no major holes. The descent over the otherside is slightly treacherous at the top due to loose gravel, but becomes much better once you start to pass through the villages.

There is very little traffic throughout the climb.

Puerto de Marabio can also be climbed from the north - starting in San Pedro.
