Climb Description
Kanpazar (also known as Campasar) is a short and gentle climb frequently used in the Tour of the Basque Country cycling race. It is in the heart of Basque cycling country, nearby to legendary climbs such as Arrate and Puerto de Urkiola. For an amateur rider, there is not a lot to recommend about this climb. It is forested throughout with no great views and the high volume of traffic - including trucks - makes it quite an unpleasant experience at times. Our advice would be to avoid the Kanpazar and tackle one of the many other quieter and more enjoyable climbs in the area.
Kanpazar is open throughout the year.
Roads & Traffic
The road is in very good condition throughout. However, it is also a busy road, carrying a lot of traffic, including heavy goods vehicles.
