Climb Description
Karabieta is a climb in the Basque Country which links the towns of Eibar and Elgeta. It is regularly used in the Tour of the Basque Country cycling race, often as a descent before the final climb up to Arrate. The gradients are fairly inconsistent on the Karabieta, but the steepest section is just 11% and this lasts for just over 150m. Most of the climb hovers between 5% and 8%, allowing you to get into some kind of a rhythm. The climb is largely forested, making it nice and cool in the summer, but also meaning that there are no spectacular views.
Karabieta is open throughout the year.
Roads & Traffic
The road is in very good condition throughout. There is some traffic on the climb, but not enough to be bothersome for cycling.
