Climb Description
Urkarregi (also known as Puerto de San Miguel) is a pleasant cycling climb in the Basque Country, situated between the towns of Elgoibar and Etxebarria. It is a climb regularly used in the Tour of the Basque Country cycling race, usually as an intermediate ascent in the race, connecting more challenging ascents. The climb is nearly all through forest and the scenery is pleasant rather than spectacular. However, the good road surface and winding hairpin bends make it good fun to ride. Urkarregi is open throughout the year.
*The height given on the signs at the top of the climb is 360m, but we measured it to be slightly lower - at 346m.
