Climb Description
Santa Eufemia (also known as Lekoitz-Gane) is a short cycling climb in the Basque Country which links the town of Aulesti with Markina-Xemein. It is regularly used on the Tour of the Basque Country race, usually as link in the middle of a stage. The climb from Aulesti is quite easy; it is short and with no very steep gradients, although there is a short stretch at close to 10% before the village of Malats (Malax). The climb is largely forested, but it does open up slightly towards the top, offering nice views in to the valley. Santa Eufemia is best included as part of a longer route, and its proximity to the coast makes it a popular option with touring cyclists.
Santa Eufemia is open throughout the year.
