Climb Description
Laguna de los Peces is a pleasant climb between two lakes in the Zamora province of Castilla-y-León. It begins from the large Lago de Sanabria and climbs to Laguna de los Peces (Lake of Fish - ascending 700 vertical metres in the process. The lakes at either end are the highlights of an enjoyable ride, with the scenery becoming more open and expansive the higher that you climb. It is not worth making a trip specifically to do this climb - however if you are in the area it is a great option. This is the best climb within a reasonable distance of the popular tourist destination Puebla de Sanabria.
Laguna de los Peces is open year round subject to the weather; short term closures due to snow are not uncommon in winter.
Roads & Traffic
The road is in fairly good condition. It is fully asphalted but is quite a bumpy ride.
There is little traffic on this climb. It becomes busier on weekends in good weather, but is still nothing especially bothersome.

Alternative Routes
There are several diversions that you can take on the lower part of the climb - notably one shortly after San Martín de Castañeda, but there is no other road to the lake at the top of the climb. You have to climb and descend the same way on a road bike.Nearby Climbs
