Climb Description
Orduña is a pleasant climb which summits near to the border between the Basque Country and the province of Burgos. The climb from Berberana is open through most of the ascent, with pleasant views (including up to the radar tower above Osma). It is mostly gently from this side and lacks the dramatic hairpins that are found on the Basque side of the climb, but it is enjoyable enough and is nice to include as part of a circular route.
Shortly before the pass, you will pass a car park with hiking routes leading to the top of nearby Monte Santiago, and at the top itself there is a television tower (although if you choose a day as cloudy as in our photo, you may struggle to see it)!
Orduña is open throughout the year, but is subject to short term closures in the winter following heavy snowfall.
