Climb Description

Coll Formic is a pleasant climb situated in the Montseny Mountains, to the north of Barcelona. It has been used as a climb several times in the prestigious Volta a Catalunya cycling race, most recently in the 2017 edition.

The gradients on the Montseny side are quite irregular, but are rarely steep, making it easy to maintain a steady rhythm. Coll Formic is nominally open throughout the year, with only occasional short term closures due to snow in winter.

Roads & Traffic

The road surface is in excellent condition throughout the climb. There is usually little traffic; it can increase slightly at bank holidays and on weekends, but is rarely enough to be annoying.

Alternative Routes

Coll Formic can also be climbed from the north, near the town of Vic. The climbing itself on this side starts in the village of Seva.
