Climb Description
Collada de Toses from Urtx is a pleasant climb running parallel to the French border in the Catalan Pyrenees. It is a high mountain climb and has pleasant scenery, but most of the route is in forest and so there are no great views. Indeed, the scenery at the top is particularly disappointed, with a large concrete hotel dominating the landscape. It is a long and gentle climb with no steep gradients, which makes it easy to maintain a steady rhythm. This is a good route to include in a long ride around the area, rather than as a standalone climb.
Collada de Toses is one of the most important passes in the region, which means that it is cleared of snow at times during winter; however, don't count on it being open from December to April. The rest of the year it is usually fine.

The road surface is in very good condition.
There is generally not a lot of traffic on this climb. The first few kilometres, either side of Urtx are by far the most busy. The traffic reduces as you continue climbing, but it never completely disappears.
