Climb Description
La Creueta is one of the best cycling climbs in Catalonia. It is quiet, has an excellent roads surface, goes to a high altitude and, most importantly, has stunning scenery towards the top of the climb. It is not the easiest climb to get to the start of, but it is well worth the effort as this is one of the most rewarding ascents in Spain. The climb from Alp is the harder side, and the average statistics are quite misleading, as there are two significant downhill sections. The actual climbing sections average close to 6.5%, although there are no especially steep sections.
La Creueta often closes for short periods in the winter due to snow; however, at times it stays open even during the colder months.
Roads & Traffic
The road surface is in good condition throughout.
This is generally little traffic on the road once you have left Alp. It gets busier on sunny weekends weekends and during August but not enough to spoil the ride.

Alternative Routes
La Creueta can also be climbed from the south, beginning in La Pobla de Lillet. There is also a route from the east, beginning in Ribes de Freser - however, this is classified as the Collada de Toses - which makes up the vast majoirty of the ascent.Nearby Climbs
