Climb Description
Mare de Deu del Mont is an excellent cycling climb in the Catalan Pyrenees. The gradients are gentle on average, but there are steeper sections throughout the climb - particularly in the last 2km.The climb from Cabanelles is a long an mostly gentle climb to a sanctuary in the Catalan Pyrenees. It is an enjoyable climb on quiet roads into the picturesque Alta Garrotxa mountains. The lower part is mostly in trees, but the scenery opens up towards the top, with some fine views.
Mare de Deu del Mont is open throughout the year depending on the weather. Short term closures are not uncommon in winter, but rarely last more than a few days.
Roads & Traffic
The road surface is in good condition throughout, the road does become narrow towards the top so take care when you descend back down.
This is little traffic on the climb. However, the N-260 from where the climb begins is a busy road, so try to avoid this as much as possible with your route.
