Climb Description
Port del Compte is a long and gentle climb to a ski resort in the Catalan Pyrenees. It crosses the Coll Portell Tell and the Coll de Jou on the way to the summit - which has been used as a stage finsih in the Volta a Catalunya race. This falls into the category of pleasant rather than spectacular, and most of the climb is lined by trees. The ski resort at the top is particularly unattractive, but nevertheless, it is a decent enough climb to consider if you are in the area.
The ski resort is open throughout the year and the road is usually only closed for short periods while any snow is cleared.
Roads & Traffic
The road surface is in very good condition.
There is generally very little traffic on the climb; although the upper part can get busy in the ski season.
The nearby ski resort of Tuixent-La Vansa is a slightly more scenic climb and shares much of the same roads as the other ways to Port del Compte. This climb can be done either from Tuixent or Sant Llorenc de Morunys

Alternative Routes
Port del Compte can be climbed from various other sides; however, the route from Solsona is the most popular with cyclists. A more popular route by car from Solsona goes along the C-462; however, there are long and dangerous tunnels on this road which makes it a very poor option from cycling. The nearby ski resort of Tuixent-La Vansa is a slightly more scenic climb and shares much of the same roads as the other ways to Port del Compte.
