Climb Description
Puerto de Esperabán is one of the most challenging road cycling climbs in the Extremadura region. It is very gentle for the first 13km, but kicks up sharply after the village of Aldehuela, with numerous stretches in excess of 15% gradient. The climb finishes on the border with the region of Castilla-y-León and there are some excellent views into both regions. The low amount of traffic, good road surface and pleasant scenery all make this a hugely enjoyable cycling climb.Puerto de Esperabán is open throughout the year; although short term closures are possible in winter.
Roads & Traffic
The road is in very good condition throughout and there is little traffic on the climb.
