Climb Description
Pico Villuercas is one of the highest road climbs in the Extremadura region. It finishes at a military base at the top of the mountain and offers some nice views into the surrounding countryside. Its remote location means it remains relatively unknown, but it is one of the better cycling ascents in this part of Spain. It begins from the historic village of Guadalupe, home to a fantastic UNESCO World Heritage listed monastery, which is well worth visiting if you are in the area.
Pico Villuercas is open throughout the year; although short term closures are possible in winter.
Roads & Traffic
The road is in good condition for the first 6km. From here it deteriorates and becomes rough in places with gravel on the road at times.
There is little traffic throughout the climb.
