O Cadramón (Lagoa)

Climb Description

O Cadramón is a picturesque climb in the Xistral mountains, close to the Atlantic coast of Galicia. It is a tough climb with a poor road surface, some steep gradients and often a strong wind all adding to the difficulty. The climb is mostly in trees on the lower slopes, but becomes very attractive towards the top of the climb, where even the wind turbines detract little from the beautiful green scenery.

As in much of Galicia, there are small roads everywhere around the climb, meaning there are a multitude of ways to reach the top and several summits on the top of the mountain itself. The climb from Lagoa is one of the most scenic routes, particularly once you get near to the top and the scenery opens up. The ascent finishes on top of O Cadramón mountain, which is the highest peak in the Xistral range.

O Cadramón is open throughout the year subject to weather. In all seasons this area receives a lot of wind and rain though, so it is important to come well prepared.
