Climb Description
The climb follows the GC-211 and GC-212 road from Tamaraceite. At Lomo de Gallego it joins the GC-400, before taking the main GC-230 and GC-15 roads to Cruz de Tejeda. It's a long ascent with quite inconsistent gradients. A few steep kilometres tend to alternate with flatter sections where you can recover and catch your breath. This is one of the best climbs to do straight from the city of Las Palmas and has pleasant views throughout.
The last section is particualrly impressive, with fine views through open scenery as you approach the Cruz de Tejeda viewpoint. From here it is possible to continue all the way to Pico de las Nieves - the highest point on the island.
Roads & Traffic
The road surface is in mixed condition. The surface is inconsistent for much of the climb, with rougher sections alternating with very smooth asphalt. However, even the rougher sections are absolutely
fine to ride on a road bike.
There is little traffic on the climb.
Cruz de Tejeda is also situated just a short distance from the various climbs to Pinos de Gáldar and Pico de las Nieves.
