Climb Description
Sella Ciampigotto is a long cycling climb which links the Carnic Alps to the east, with the Dolomites to the west. The climb from Ampezzo is deceptively tough, with long flat sections interspersed with some fairly steep pitches. The lower part of the climb also includes several cobbled tunnels. These are lit and carry little traffic so are fun to ride rather than dangerous. These finish at the beautiful Sauris Lake, where the scenery begins to open up more and the more challenging gradients start to appear.
Sella Ciampigotto is best climbed from May to October.
