Climb Description
Sella Ciampigotto is a long and fairly gentle cycling climb in the eastern part of the Italian Alps. Frome Pelos di Cadore it is an enjoyable ride which becomes increasingly quiet the higher you ride and forms the transition from the Dolomites to the Carnic Alps. This is the less interesting of the sides to the top, but it is still a pleasant climb. While the eastern side includes cobbled climbs, scenic lakes and open pastures, this side is mostly in forest. In cloudy weather it can even look a bit dreary, but when the sun shines the shade is agreeable. The final few kilometres are more open, with views of the dramatic limestone peaks of the Dolomites.
Sella Ciampigotto is best climbed from May to October.
