Climb Description
Peña Hincada is a cycling pass in the Rioja region of Spain. The climb from Villanueva is a very gradual ascent which should pose no problems for experienced cyclists. The scenery here is very nice, both as you pass the Gonzalez Lacasa Reservoir and as the road opens up towards the top of the climb. The enjoyment is reduced slightly by the mixed quality of the road surface; however, it is still one of the best cycling climbs in the area.Roads & Traffic
The road is in reasonable condition throughout. The lower part of the climb is very good, but there are some bumpy sections towards the top. It is all easily passable on a road bike though.
There is little traffic on the climb.
