Climb Description
Coll d'en Claret is a picturesque climb situated in the south-western part of the Tramuntana Mountains. It can be climbed from various directions, and links up with several other ascents nearby, including es Grau, Valldemossa, Can Costa and Sa GramolaThis climb begins from the village of Establiments, on the outskirts of Mallorca's capital - Palma. The first part of the ascent is very gentle, as fas as the town of Esporles. From there the gradients increase, but it is still not particularly steep as you climb into a more remote part of the island. The most scenic part is after you turn right to join the Ma-10, around 4km from the top of the climb. Here you follow a beautiful winding road which offers great views looking back down toward the coast and the city of Palma.
The climb to Coll d'en Claret is open throughout the year.
Roads & Traffic
The road surface is generally in excellent condition, having mostly been repaved in the last few years. The section between 6.5km and 9km is still slightly rougher, but absolutely no problem to ride on a road bike.
There can be quite a few cars on the first part of the climb to Esporles, although it is not particularly bothersome. After Esporles the traffic continues to thin out as you climb towards the pass.
