Climb Description
Ermita de Betlem is located in the east of Mallorca, on the edge of Alcudia Bay. It is a fairly short, but enjoyable climb, along a quiet road with picturesque views. The ascent begins a short distance from the charming town of Arta, where you can first the imposing walled Sant Salvador sanctuary, before heading north on the MA-3333. The winding road is very gentle at first, but becomes steeper towards the top of the climb.
The top of the pass is situated around 1.6km from the Betlem Monastery, which the climb is named after. It is highly recommended to continue on this very scenic road, descending around 90m until you reach the monastery at the end of the road. This is over two hundred years old, and the monks living there were known for their self sufficiency, producing copious amounts of olive oil and honey on the mountain slopes. Close to the monastery there are excellent views looking out over Alcudia Bay.
The climb to Ermita de Betlem is open throughout the year.
