Climb Description
Es Verger is one of the most challenging cycling climbs in Mallorca, and it shares the mountain with the notorious Sobremunt. The climb begins from the town of Esporles and has fairly inconsistent gradients, with some steep pitches already towards the beginning of the climb. The hardest section, however, is near to the top, where a series of extremely steep switchbacks really test the legs.
The climb is scenic, with some open views early on, before heading into forest. From the top of the climb you can continue a short distance along the broken road to Sobremunt.
Es Verger is open throughout the year.
Roads & Traffic
The road surface is generally in very good condition until just before the top of the climb. However, if you continue on over the top toward Sobremunt, it deteriorates considerably, with large potholes and gravel sections. There is little traffic on the climb; however, it is not completely empty, so take care when descending because you may have to stop if you meet a car on the narrow road.
Alternative Routes
It is possible to climb to Es Verger from the other side of the mountain, via Sobremunt. This is the hardest climb in Mallorca, thanks to its both steep gradients and poor road surfaces.Nearby Climbs
