Climb Description
Col de Bagargi from Larrau is a very challenging climb. The gradient is inconsistent, with the second half of the climb containing long sections above 12%. Along with several of the other climbs in the Basque Pyrenees, it requires a high degree of fitness to enjoy. The first three kilometres are the same as Port de Larrau, before you turn left and climb into the vibrant green hills which are so characteristic of this part of the Pyrenees.
The gradients here are inconsistent which makes it a challenging ride, but if you have a high level of fitness there are some excellent circular routes which you can do around the region. From the top of the climb it is possible to continue slightly higher, if you continue over the pass and then turn left - before following a road which leads to the Col de Sensibil - an unmarked climb which is one of the highest in the area.
Col de Bagargi is open throughout the year subject to the weather. Short term closures due to snow are common in winter, but generally do not last more than a week or two.
