Climb Description
Col de Port is a relatively long and gentle climbs which has been used several times in the Tour de France. It is one of the most popular climbs in the Ariège Pyrenees, and can be combined with several other ascents nearby to create a great longer ride. The climb from Tarascon-sur-Ariège is a long ascent, with several flat sections. The real climbing starts when you have left the village of Saurat; however, even here it is mostly gentle with nothing to trouble an experienced cyclist. The scenery is green and open for much of the route, but the great views only really come with the haripins at the top of the climb.
Col de Port is open throughout the year.
