Climb Description
Col de Mantet is a challenging climb in the Catalan Pyrenees. Despite not being especially famous, its statistics compare with monstrous ascents such as Tourmalet or Plateau de Beille. It follows a narrow road through several small villages, with the steeper part of the climb really kicking in after the village of Py.The scenery here is pleasant and the road quiet, making it enjoyable for cycling, but don't expect the really spectacular views that are commonplace in the central part of the Pyrenees.
Col de Mantet is usually open throughout the year, with the pass being cleared to allow access to the village of Mantet. However, short term closures are possible in winter.
Roads & Traffic
The road surface is in reasonable condition throughout. There are no cracks or potholes, but it is not very smooth and makes for a bumpy and grippy ride.
