Climb Description
Hospice de France is one of several excellent cycling climbs out of the town of Luchon. The first part of the ascent shares the same road as Superbagnères. This part is mostly gentle and poses few difficulties, however, after turning off the main road it becomes steep and challenging until the finish, with gradients of around 15% in places. This is not the most scenic climb in the region, with most of the ascent in forest, but it does open out towards the top, which houses a car park and many trail-heads.
Hospice de France is often open throughout the year, although short term closures are possible due to snow in winter.
Roads & Traffic
The road surface is in very good condition throughout and there is very little traffic on the climb.

Strong riders may wish to continue to the top as an out and back extension - but we recommend giving preference to the more scenic Superbagnères.
