Climb Description
Alto de Benillup is a scenic climb from the town of Cocentaina. It heads through olive groves and past small villas towards the village of Benillup in the heart of Alicante's mountains. Be sure to check behind you as you descend for fantastic views of the Sierra Mariola Natural Park. The peak of Montcabrer dominates the landscape and there is also a nice view of Cocentaina's Medieval castle. The climb is quiet irregular, with short and steep sections pitches mixed in with flat sections, but it is not too demanding for cyclists of reasonable fitness.
Alto de Benillup is open and highly enjoyable to climb throughout the year.
