Climb Description
The climb to the Port d'Eslida Antenna is one of the most popular with cyclists in this part of Spain. It is situated in the Sierra Espadan Natural Park, a range of medium mountains that are famous for their combination of pine and olive trees. The ascent via Artana is very gentle for the first 10km - little more than a false flat. After reaching the village of Eslida it kicks up considerably and remains reasonably challenging until the Port d'Eslida, where it becomes significantly steeper. The final 3km averages over 10% gradient and there are several stretches above 15%. The last part is optional, however, and it is just as nice to continue straight over the pass and continue on a longer route around the Natural Park.
Port d'Eslida is open throughout the year, and the mild Mediterranean climate makes it an enjoyable climb even in winter.
