Climb Description
Font de l'Arbre ranks alongside the likes of Miserat as one of the most challenging climbs in the Alicante province. Its length and average gradient are nothing special, but one look at the profile reveals how irregular and steep it is in places. It is a picturesque climb, which uses a combination of minor roads to climb high up towards Aitana. It is challenging throughout, with long stretches above 15% appearing regularly, coupled with occasionally downhill or flat sections for recovery.
The scenery is the real highlight though; leaving from the Guadalest Reservoir and passing through delightful cherry and almond fields, before climbing the final stretch to Font de l'Arbre - the highest public road in the Aitana mountains. If you love ascending and want a challenge climb - Font de l'Arbre is well worth considering.
Font de l'Arbre is usually open year round.
Roads & Traffic
The climb to Font de l'Arbre has a mixed road surface. The first part until the village of Abdet is the worst, with the surface broken at times and with patches of gravel, including
on steep gradients. From Abdet to Confrides it is in perfect condition, having been recently resurfaced. The last section from Confrides is also generally very good. Even at its worst, however, it is easily passable on a road bike.
There is very little traffic throughout the climb.
