Climb Description
El Garbí is a hugely popular cycling climb in the Sierra Calderona Natural Park. It is the nearest significant climb to the city of Valencia (less than 40km from the center) and several hundred riders climb it each week. There are several other nice climbs in the area which makes it a good option to include as part of a longer route. The climb from this side first passes over the Coll d'Oronet - a climb used in the 2015 edition of the Vuelta España.The climb from Náquera is the classic side, being the one closest to Valencia. The gradients are inconsistent, but the only significant steep section - through the village of Serra - is very short. The scenery is picturesque, particularly once you have passed Serra, with the red soils providing a pleasant contrast with the pine forest. From the top of the climb you can see the Mediterranean coastline on a clear day. From this side, you first ride to the Port d'Oronet before turning right and continuing to El Garbí.
El Garbí is open and is enjoyable to climb throughout the year.
Roads & Traffic
The road is in very good condition throughout.
The first part of the climb through Náquera is reasonably busy, but the road quickly becomes very quiet, particularly after Serra. There is more traffic on weekends, but it is still enjoyable to ride.
