Climb Description
Guixop is on the same mountain (El Maigmó) as Xorret de Catí and, much like its more famous neighbour, it is characterized by a shortish length and steep gradients. It never quite reaches the 20% sections that make Xorret de Catí such a monster, but Guixop is a challenging climb in its own right, with numerous pitches above 15%.It is popular with cyclists looking to challenge themselves from the nearby city of Alicante, and the appeal comes from its slopes rather than from the scenery. Indeed, most of the climb is in forest, only opening up slightly towards the top as you reach the Pedro Paya antennas, which mark the summit of the climb.
Guixop (without the final 2km) is also the same climb as Balcon de Alicante - a stage finish that has featured in recent professional cycling races in the region.
Guixop is open throughout the year.
