Climb Description
Peñon Divino is a pleasant climb which heads towards the peak of Aitana - the highest in the Alicante province. Much of its route is shared with the climb to Port de Tudons, only turning off around 6km from the pass.It is a very pleasant climb to ride, with fantastic views of the mountains of Aitana and Puigcampana. The road is also very winding and a lot of fun whether going up or down. The last section to Peñon Divino (which literlly means Divine Rock - we're not sure why!), is not the best part of the route though. And we would generally recommend just staying on the CV-770 and continuing to Port de Tudons.
Or, if you would like an alternative to Tudons, we would recommend riding the Alto del Tigre which has fine views and can also be ridden as a pass.
The climb to Peñon Divino is usually open throughout the whole year.
Roads & Traffic
The road surface is excellent condition for the first 18km. After turning off from the CV-770 it becomes a bit rougher with a few cracks, but is still fine to ride on a road bike.
There can be a few cars on the first stretch of the climb from Villajoyosa to Sella, but the road is wide and so you barely notice them. After Sella, there is very little traffic.
