Climb Description
The climb of Pla de Petracos is a great little ascent in the mountains of Alicante. Beginning from the village of Vall d'Ebo, it is a punchy climb, with the gradient well into double figures for short section. But there are also flatter places where you can catch your breath. The scenery here is truly beautiful, with dramatic rock formations providing an imposing backdrop, while olive and cherry trees line the road. It is an excellent climb to include as part of a longer ride, as it links together some of the most popular climbs in the Costa Blanca region - such as Port d'Ebo and Coll de Rates.
On the descent towards Castell de Castells and Parcent you will pass the caves of Petracos, which are home to prehistoric paintings.
The climb to Pla de Petracos is usually open throughout the whole year.
Roads & Traffic
The road here is narrow, but the surface is in excellent condition. The entire climb and descent has been repaved in the last few years.

Alternative Routes
Pla de Petracos can also be climbed from the other side, which begins a few kilometres north of Castell de Castells. We don't have a profile for that side because it's very easy, mostly gently rolling and with less than 200m of altitude gain.Nearby Climbs
