Climb Description
Preventori is a superb climb into the Mariola Natural Park, and is one of the best ways to cycle out of the city of Alcoy. Its gradients are quite steep in places, but they remain manageable and ease off before they take too much out of the legs. It's a very beautiful ascent, framed by the mountains of the Sierra Mariola - in particular the distinctive peaks of the Barranc del Cint. The climb is named after the 'Preventori hospital' situated just over half way up, which is a nice historic building, with great views over the city below.
We highly recommend riding this climb and then continuing on into the Mariola Natural Park.
Preventori is open throughout the whole year.
Roads & Traffic
The road is in excellent condition throughout; although there are some slightly annoying speed bumps just as you leave Alcoy.
The first kilometre follows a cycle lane alongside a busy road. Where the cycle lane finishes there is very little traffic all the way to the top.

Alternative Routes
This is the best way to climb to Preventori. There are other roads leading there - as you can see on the map, but they are rolling with long downhill sections, rather than sustained climbing.Nearby Climbs
