Climb Description
Reconco is climb of two halves starting in the town of Biar. The first half, until the Puerto de Biar, is very easy and gentle; however, after turning off the main road it is much more challenging, with several sections where the gradient is in excess of 15%.It is a popular cycling climb as it ascends to the highest point in the Sierra de la Fontanella mountains, offering attractive views in all directions from the summit.
For a real challenge, you can combined Reconco with two similar murito style climbs nearby: Xorret de Catí and Guixop.
Reconco is usually open throughout the year, with just short term closures possible if there is any snow in winter..
Roads & Traffic
The road surface is in very good condition throughout, having recently been re-surfaced. The first part of the climb, until the Puerto de Biar, is on a fairly busy road, but there is a paved cycle path running alongside it to keep
you out of the traffic. After turning off the CV-799, the climb is very quiet.
