Climb Description
Xorret de Catí is one of the most famous cycling climbs in the Valencia region. It instantly become a hit with fans when it first appeared in the 1998 edition of the Vuelta a España - a stage won by the climber Chava Jiménez. The climb on the other side, from Castalla is the real star, with very steep and challenging gradients. Nevertheless, the road from this side is also a really enjoyable climb. The gradients are more gradual here; although there are still short stretches at 15% towards the top. The climb passes through the Maigmó Mountains with trees lining much of the road, so the views are pleasant rather than spectacular.
Xorret de Catí is open throughout the year.
Roads & Traffic
The road is in fairly good condition; it is slightly bumpy in places, but still fine to ride on a road bike.
